How to Apply
Your Step by Step Checklist for September 2008 Admissions
Complete a tour of the school. Tours begin in October and occur regularly through January. To make a tour reservation, call the External Relations Office at 718-858-5100 x 20. The Admissions Office will start to book tour appointments in September.
Submit the following to Brooklyn Heights Montessori School:
- a completed, signed Application Form,
- an Application Supplement,
- an application fee of $75 (check payable to BHMS), and
- a copy of your child’s birth certificate.
Submit the signed Transcript and Recommendation* Release Form to your child’s current school.
Parents of Preschool and 1st Grade applicants also need to submit the Confidential Teacher Recommendation Form (for Preschool and 1st Grade applicants) to your child’s current teacher.
Parents of applicants to Grades 2-8 also need to submit the Confidential Teacher Recommendation Form (for Grades 2-8) to your child’s current teacher.
The External Relations Office will contact you to schedule a classroom observation/parent interview, and a student visit.
Candidates for Grades 1-8 are required, in addition to their student visit, to take an entrance examination* administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). To make an appointment for your child’s examination, please call the ERB at 212-672-9800. Please be sure to list Brooklyn Heights Montessori School as a recipient of your child’s test results. The ERB school code for BHMS is 336596. BHMS needs to receive test results by January 31.
- Candidates for Grades 1-4 are required to take the ERB Test.
- Candidates for Grades 5-8 are required to take the ISEE Test.
Families who wish to apply for financial aid must check the appropriate box on the Application for Admission. BHMS will send these families a separate financial aid application packet with detailed instructions for the application process (these packets are usually mailed at the beginning of December). Financial aid applications are strictly due within 2 weeks of receipt of this packet.
