We worked on a very old card trick called "card warp" where one card seems to turn itself inside out while partly covered by another card. We then used rubber bands to work on a very simple version of an old mentalism effect called "powers of darkness." In this effect a rubber band penetrates onto a audience members finger under impossible circumstances. For an interesting twist to your average magic trick, in this presentation only the volunteer is fooled while the audience sees exactly how the trick is done. We finished the class by using a juggling apparatus called "devil sticks" to work on to work on our hand eye coordination, timing, and balance.

Super Duper Tennis: preschool with Coach Charles

As a group they dissected the candidates' arguments with the labels and structure they learned earlier.

Chess Wizards with The Wizard Ashe

Today the chess scholars played a full game of chess and did a self evaluation. At the end of the game chess scholars expressed what they felt they could improve on and also what they would like to learn next week. Yoga with LaChrisha Brown

We introduced ourselves to each other through personalized poses! And then we explored Yoga animal and nature poses.

Test Tube Tamers: Science with Lee Brady

This week we used balloons and bicycle pumps to explore some properties of air. The students observed carefully and shared a wealth of observations - such as how far the balloons expanded with each pump, the various sounds of the air escaping again, and the different flight paths created by different quantities of air. After noticing that the balloon always moved in the opposite direction to the air coming out, we attempted to aim our "rocket balloons" using guide strings.

Robot Rampage

with Hassan Mojtabaee

The students were instructed on how to code the YellowBot robot. They then broke up into small groups (2-3) and coded the robot to travel around the perimeter of a classroom table. The students then reflected on the strategies that they used while programming the robots.
