BHMS uses hands-on academic skill building to make learning deep, rich and meaningful. Fully integrating our global curriculum, we expose students to the world as a classroom. We utilize mixed-age learning to build self-confident, thoughtful and empathetic leaders. Grace, courtesy and peaceful conflict resolution are skills taught throughout our 12-year program.
The Visual and Performing Arts program (VAPA) includes the first through eighth grade arts classes at BHMS. Montessori education has a deep commitment to the arts and cultural awareness, and the Visual and Performing Arts program maintains this commitment by providing our students with an arts curriculum that works toward making meaningful connections with their classroom curricular work.
The Athletics program is committed to providing each student with a strong and positive foundation in the experience of team sports and physical activity. Students participate as a member of a team that will practice and play as a community, emphasizing teamwork and camaraderie, and always striving for fair play.
Students also receive individual attention in each sport to facilitate skill building and self-confidence. The BHMS Mustangs play regularly scheduled soccer and basketball games, and participate in track meets, all within the larger community of independent schools. At the end of each season, we honor the student-athletes in a special assembly.
