Montessori

Montessori schools can be found in every city and country around the world. While the schools share commonalities, no two approach education in precisely the same way. Each school is unique. Some schools adhere strictly to the founding principals of Dr. Maria Montessori. Others, like Brooklyn Heights Montessori School, integrate her ideas with those of other progressive educators.

At BHMS, we respect each child as an individual person and learner. Our teachers provide an environment that fosters students to think for themselves, guides them to a love of learning, and encourages them to explore all possibilities. Above all, BHMS nurtures each child to encourage compassion, respect, and independence of thought.

BHMS is a proud, accredited member of the American Montessori Society. AMS provides excellent resources to learn more about the history, philosophy, and practice of Montessori education.
