Montessori Afternoons Plus (MAP)

After the school day has finished, a place for creative learning and relaxed play can still be found at BHMS in our Montessori Afternoons Plus (MAP) program. MAP is a comfortable, safe, and progressive after school program for children from Preschool through Grade Four. MAP offers a rich variety of activities under the guidance of our experienced and nurturing staff. The program is open both to BHMS students as well as children from the local community.

Until 6 p.m. every day, MAP offers care not overloaded with academic work or busy activities, but rather a break to do homework, play indoors and out, and try creative and enriching classes in a relaxed but guided setting.

MAP is divided into different blocks of time for the afternoon, as listed below. We understand that each family has unique schedule and life requirements, so parents can choose as many blocks of time as meet their individual needs. For students who haven’t signed up for MAP, drop-in care is also available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Preschoolers and Kindergartners

• Snack and Activities: 3-4:15 P.M.
• Freeplay and Activities: 4:15-5 P.M.
• Late Care: 5-6 P.M.

Grades 1-4

• Early Care: 3-4:15 P.M.
• Activity: 4:15-5:30 P.M.
• Late Care: 5:30-6 P.M.

Early Care

Children engage in informal indoor and outdoor play. A snack is provided.

Activity

Children can choose from a wide variety of courses, including Sports, Photography, Soccer, Art, Ceramics, Music, Cooking, and "Science Man Scott," or engage in free play. They can also participate in gently guided, loosely structured activities, such as arts projects and community service. A quiet, supervised study room is also available.

Late Care and Later Care

Children relax and unwind with art, books, computers, and games. A quiet room for study is also available.

Drop-in Care

Space is limited. The fee is $12 per hour or any part thereof. A sign-up sheet is located on the door of the MAP office on the first floor.
