Matthew Stuart is currently the Head of School at The Caedmon School, a progressive Montessori preschool and elementary school on the Upper East Side of New York City. He has been teaching in independent schools since 1985. Past schools include The Town School, National Cathedral School in Washington, DC, Spence, and Hewitt. Matthew holds a B.F.A. in Theatre Arts from Syracuse University and was a Klingenstein Fellow, earning an M.A. in Educational Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University. Matthew believes that schools have a moral mission to ensure that every student has an equitable opportunity for joy, personal discovery, safety, and educational prosperity.
