What Is the Montessori Approach to Early Childhood Education?

Montessori Early Childhood Education is a child-centered approach that encourages independence, curiosity, concentration, and collaboration through hands-on learning experiences. In thoughtfully prepared multi-age classrooms, children are guided by teachers who support each child’s developmental pace, interests, and learning style.

At BHMS, our Twos, Preschool (ages three and four), and Kindergarten programs each strategically build on the stage before, with joyful, consistent child-led exploration, individualized instruction, to support the academic and social-emotional growth of our students. The Montessori philosophy meets children where they are, and because the curriculum is responsive to individual needs and learning styles, students can enter and thrive in the BHMS community at many points.
