Alejandro Vilar

Trustee

Alejandro and his wife, Catherine, have been BHMS parents since 2018 when their daughter, Mireia, was enrolled in the 3s program. Their son, Gaél, joined soon after, coming in at the same grade level as his sister. As a Montessori child himself, Alejandro values the school’s philosophy and holds fond memories of his time in the Montessori classroom in his native Puerto Rico. Dedicating his time to the nonprofit sector, Alejandro has worked with underserved communities in the NYC city area and beyond. Most recently, he administered a program through the YMCA of Greater NY serving the city’s immigrant community. Currently, he’s the Director of a Community Center in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. His undergraduate work was completed at Haverford College where he focused on LatinAmerican and Iberian Studies, while his graduate work in Multicultural School Psychology was done at Fordham University.
