Alejandro Vilar

Trustee

Alejandro and his family have been a part of the BHMS community since 2018 when his daughter, Mireia, now in 6th grade, was enrolled. Three years later, son, Gaél, a rising 3rd grader, joined the threes program. As a former Montessori child himself, Alejandro values the school’s philosophy and holds fond memories of his time in the Montessori classroom in his native Puerto Rico. Dedicating his time to the nonprofit sector, he has worked with underserved communities in NYC and beyond. Most recently, he administered a program through the YMCA of Greater NY serving the city’s immigrant community. Currently, he’s the Director of a Community Center in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. His undergraduate work was completed at Haverford College where he focused on Latin American and Iberian Studies, while his graduate work in Multicultural School Psychology was done at Fordham University.
