Alejandro Vilar

Trustee

Alejandro and his wife, Catherine, have been BHMS parents since 2018 when their daughter, Mireia, now in 5th grade, was enrolled. Their son, Gaél, a rising 2nd grader, joined the BHMS community soon after. As a former Montessori child himself, Alejandro values the school’s philosophy and holds fond memories of his time in the Montessori classroom in his native Puerto Rico. Dedicating his time to the nonprofit sector, he has worked with underserved communities in the NYC city area and beyond. Most recently, he administered a program through the YMCA of Greater NY serving the city’s immigrant community. Currently, he’s the Director of a Community Center in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. His undergraduate work was completed at Haverford College where he focused on LatinAmerican and Iberian Studies, while his graduate work in Multicultural School Psychology was done at Fordham University.
