Thank you for choosing Brooklyn Heights Montessori for your family! I have the privilege of working as BHMS’ Director of Development, supporting families in their journey of giving back, whether it be with a philanthropic gift or their time.
Our Culture of Giving
Since our founding 60 years ago, our community has benefited from the ongoing support and generosity of its families, friends, and faculty and staff.

Why Do We Fundraise?
As with all independent schools, our tuition does not cover the full cost of the BHMS experience. This is intentional; by setting tuition below the true cost of education, we provide the opportunity for more families to join our community. The funding gap is filled by families - both current and alumni - who generously support with a tax-deductible donation.​​​
Who Donates to BHMS?
Everyone! We approach fundraising as a community. This means that every dollar counts. When pooled together, our giving has a tremendous impact on our students, families, and faculty and staff. Whether your family chooses to give $25 or $25,000, please know that your contribution makes a difference in our day-to-day.

There are many ways to support our BHMS community. The most common ways families choose to support include:

Brooklyn Heights Montessori Fund
The Brooklyn Heights Montessori Fund is our community’s annual fund. Each year, we aim for 100% participation from our current families. This fund is the backbone of our school, and touches every aspect of the BHMS educational experience, including:

Student and Family Supports
The BHMS tuition assistance program
Field trips, special classroom guests and speakers, and adventures throughout the city and beyond
The flexibility to adapt and evolve to meet the needs of our community

VAPA supplies and our athletics department

BHMS By Design: 60th Anniversary Capital Campaign
In January of 2025 we launched a special anniversary capital campaign. While our annual fund supports our school today, a capital campaign supports our growth.
​
Over our 60 year history, each generation of BHMS families has come together to take care of and build upon our incredible facilities. Since launching, we’ve raised of $750,000 toward this collective $1 million goal. This year, we’ll be launching phase 2, and with your help, completing this transformational project.

Unlike with our BHMF, families have the ability to make a generous pledge toward these renovations over the next two years allowing for an opportunity to make a deeper investment in our community.

2026 Spring Benefit
Join us on April 16, 2026 for our annual fundraiser! A night out for our families, together we celebrate our year, support our community, and have some fun. Keep an eye out for the official Save the Date.
