Rebecca Skinner
Trustee
Rebecca Skinner currently works as a strategic advisor for the Gillen Brewer School and as an independent educational consultant, having previously spent over 23 years building and leading independent schools in NYC and Dubai. Her career as an educator began when she founded International School of Brooklyn, a language immersion and IB school. Subsequently, she was on the founding leadership team of Dwight School Dubai, and served as head of school at both Blue School and Gillen Brewer School.
A self-described life-long learner (and a Montessorian from preschool through 6th Grade), Rebecca is presently pursuing doctoral studies at Teachers College Columbia University. She also holds an M Ed. in International Curriculum Development and Supervision from Endicott College, an MA in French Cultural Studies from NYU, and a BA in French and International Studies from Southwestern University. In addition to her role as a trustee at Brooklyn Heights Montessori School, Rebecca also serves on the board of the Cloud Forest School Foundation in Costa Rica.
When she isn’t thinking about schools, she enjoys fostering her family’s shared love of language and culture, wrangling her three dogs, and spending time in the Catskills Mountains.
