Lower Elementary Teacher - Pacific Ocean
This is Coral's first year at BHMS. Coral is a seasoned educator who is committed to diversity, social justice and equity. She says it is essential to support every child in finding their inner power and passion - it’s the way to keep children learning! Coral holds a Bachelor’s in Education and an AMS Early Childhood Montessori certification. She has taught in a wide variety of educational settings both in Puerto Rico and New York City in both English and Spanish. She is currently completing her Master’s in Bilingual Education at Interamerican University, Aguadilla Campus, Puerto Rico. Outside of the classroom, she and her extended family have been deeply involved in their Lower East Side Community Garden for generations. She offers classes to community members that connect them to their food and has been part of working with the city to ensure the garden remains a place for the community to be together. She stays connected to her roots through dance - Caribbean, salsa, rumba and more!
