Alice Vervaecke

Alice joined the BHMS team in September 2024 and got the opportunity to be a substitute in nearly every classroom in the building. Because of this, she receives many high fives daily and has become inspired by the Montessori practices specific to each age and watching how those practices support students’ evolution. She is looking forward to having a home base this year in UE and diving into her first year as a full time teacher. Before moving to Brooklyn last summer Alice worked for the Iowa City community school district as a special education paraeducator after graduating from the University of Iowa with a BA in Environmental Planning. She is currently completing her Master's in Elementary Education. When Alice is not thinking about school she can be found at Prospect Park or eating a pastry.
